The Lewis Eady National Junior Piano Competition gives New Zealand pre-tertiary pianists the opportunity to showcase their talents and compete at a national level.

The biennial competition is open to full-time secondary school students in New Zealand. Eligible participants must be New Zealand citizens, New Zealand residents, or have studied in New Zealand for at least two years.

Participants must submit recorded auditions, and a Preliminary Adjudicator reviews these auditions. Up to 16 students are selected to move forward to the competition phase.

Those selected perform a 20-minute recital programme of their choice. Importantly, their programme must include at least three musical periods, suggesting a diverse and comprehensive repertoire.

Only six finalists are chosen by an adjudication panel to advance to the GRAND FINAL, scheduled for Saturday, December 9th, and a prize presentation follows the final competition.
