Scholarships

clef - encouraging and supporting talented and deserving music students in New Zealand who are committed to their musical education.

Each funding year, clef offers up to ten scholarships and appoints up to two Young Artists, offering them performance and focused training opportunities plus guidance from visiting international artists.

Junior and Senior scholarships are awarded under the following categories: stringpiano & wind.

  • By applying for a clef scholarship, each applicant agrees that they have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by all of the Regulations.

    Purpose: Scholarship towards formal educational costs anywhere in New Zealand

    Term: 12 months from the commencement date

    Value: Up to NZ$2,000 each

    Quantity: Up to 4 scholarships will be awarded

    Eligibility: Open to students enrolled in primary or intermediate schools; string, wind and piano; available to New Zealand citizens or permanent residents only

    The application materials include:
    Completed application form
    CV
    Letter of recommendation from your primary music teacher
    Audition

    Awards are made by the clef board upon the recommendations of the selection committee, approved by clef.

    Value: Up to NZ$6,000 each

    Quantity: Up to 6 scholarships will be awarded

    Eligibility: Open for students enrolled in secondary school; string, wind and piano; available to New Zealand citizens or permanent residents only

    Purpose: Scholarship towards formal educational costs anywhere in New Zealand

    Term: 12 months from the commencement date

    Value: Up to NZ$20,000 each

    Quantity:
    Up to 2 scholarships will be awarded

    Eligibility:
    Any age up to 24 years; any orchestral instrument, piano and voice; available to New Zealand citizens or permanent residents only
